Copper adhesive tape on acrylic, speakers, microcontrollers
New York Transit Museum, Brooklyn
The copper-traced cubes installed inside a subway car at the New York Transit Museum. Each cube carries the transit system of a different New York borough, traced in copper tape, and touching a line plays a tone corresponding to the average frequency of ridership in that system: Staten Island has the lowest tone and Manhattan the highest.
Placed inside a subway car, the piece invites visitors to compose with the network they move through every day.
